Gratitude and Methaphors

I have two thoughts this morning.
The first is that of gratitude. I was texting Keri yesterday as I was waiting for the metro to come. (I have been in Washington DC all week!) I mentioned that my feet hurt to the point where every step was very painful because I was bound and determined to suck the marrow out of this trip and having been running  nonstop for six days. And she replied "you are such a great walker with such great legs!" I whole heartedly agree! Thus as I was limping home I still could not help but be overwhelmed with gratitude that I have such wonderful legs, such capable feet, and that I had the opportunity to do so many amazing things.

My second thought is from this morning. As I said before, I have been in DC all week. I am flying out today and thus had no plans for touring today so I got to sleep in just a bit. However, the room I am in has blackout windows and I forgot to set my alarm. When I stumbled out of bed at 11:30 (in all fairness only 9:30 Utah time) I mentioned to my friend, "I kept waiting for the light to wake me up, and it never did, so I just kept sleeping." It hit me that sometimes I go through life that way. Rather than searching for the light or making plans to get myself going to a certain destination (in our little metaphor that would be setting an alarm), I wait for the light to come to me before I put in the effort and when it doesn't I just keep "sleeping." I hope that I can be someone who is proactive and makes life happen rather than waiting to be acted upon. May we all search out the light and go out and meet the world!

  2. I really liked your thoughts this morning Mandi. It made me think of the scripture that says: "Seek and you shall find". I couldn't find any reference for "kick back in the lazy chair and all you desire will come to you." So today I am going to seek out all the good there is for me. Thank you so much for the inspiration! I too am grateful for good legs!
