I love this! Someone mentioned in one of our calls to pray only with gratitude asking for nothing. I have been experimenting with this and discovered at first it was a little challenging. But then it got easier. This morning as I sat down with Jacob to have breakfast I told him that in our blessing for the food I would be praying for our family prayer for the day too. He said that was good. I said my gratitude prayer, thanking God for for being able to help make our goals happen and for many other blessings I felt in my heart. Thanking and thinking as though God had already blessed me with my desires, needs and wishes. When we finished Jacob said "That was beautiful Mom, is it okay to cry a little when something is beautiful?" I was taken back since this is a first for us. I said yes and asked him what touched his heart. He said..."How beautiful it is that you can do so much for our family" In my personal gratitude prayers I had mentioned this, for I needed to be better at this. I thank God that today he has blessed me to be what I need to be for my family!

I am grateful for compassionate and loving heavenly parents. A father in heaven who knows me so well to have blessed me so abundantly. For the beauty of the earth, skies and heaven above. For the many family and friends who bless me everyday! I am grateful to experience such profoundness in all I come in contact with. I am grateful for all things. I am grateful for a remarkable family. I am grateful to be me!
What a wonderful sweet spirit Jacob has. Thank you for sharing this Jeanie. It encourages me to keep on trying to be a better mother even on days when it seems like all is stacked against me.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie. I often feel the way you do. I am working each day to be a better mom. I am so grateful for the gift of being a mom. Oh how I had prayed for Jacob. I am hopeful that I can fulfill my promises to Heavenly Father to raise Jacob up unto him. It is such an honor to be a mother and to love and nurture our young!
